Moscow Ballet: The Great Russian Nutcracker The Moscow Ballet will present the “Great Russian Nutcracker” on Monday, Dec. 15, and Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus. This Nutcracker Ballet will be presented in more than 70 cities across the United States and Canada. Now celebrating its 16th annual U.S. tour, the Moscow Ballet’s artists crossed the country in November and continue to do so in December, with Artistic Director Anatoli Emelianov leading simultaneous tours of the beloved holiday classic. GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER Featuring spectacular sets and beautifully costumed Russian dancers, Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” is an annual treat for the whole family. Whimsical and imaginative storytelling blends with the richness of Russian classical dance to make the “Great Russian Nutcracker” a unique performance not to be missed. Choreographer Anatoli Emelianov has been praised by critics for his unique setting of Act II in the "Land of Peace and Harmony." To convey his message of peace, Emelianov incorporates an ethereal dove that escorts Masha and the Prince to a land where there is no war and suffering. Set against Valentin Fedorov's spectacular scenic design, with dancing, larger-than-life puppets and the backdrop of unicorns, exotic birds and animals, Moscow Ballet's “Great Russian Nutcracker” is a visual delight. MOSCOW BALLET Moscow Ballet continues its commitment to making a difference in the arts. Local children audition to appear with the Russian dancers on the tours. Last year, more than 6,000 children in North America performed with Moscow Ballet as part of its educational outreach campaign, "Celebrating Children…The Arts Can Make a Difference.” TICKETS & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Tickets may be purchased by contacting the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S.
